These 4 little studies were copied from another artist. I find it a valuable lesson to create these studies. To try to figure out the order they painted the layers, the colors they used, and etc. Understanding order, how wet, damp or dry the paper needs to be to get effects, how much pigment you use with adding water…it’s all a mystery until you paint about a zillion studies! So I encourage everyone to practice by whatever means they can soak up information. (No pun intended.)

I am selecting watercolors for this challenge.

This series of trees were obviously done from the same photo reference, on different days. It’s interesting to see how different they look each day. It would be even better if they were done on location, en plein air!
